Top Contender Demian Maia Eyes Two Different UFC Records

UFC welterweight contender Demian Maia has two goals he would like to accomplish before he’s done competing in the UFC.

During an interview with A.G Fight, Maia said he wants to break the UFC record for the most wins inside the Octagon, and he wants to win a UFC championship.

“There are two records that I would like to beat,” Maia said. “One, to have the most wins in the UFC. I know I am second behind (Michael) Bisping right now along with one or two other people. And it is also my goal today to get a belt. While I’m fighting, I will be trying to get to the top, and if it doesn’t work out, I’ll leave MMA.”

Currently, Maia has 19 wins in the UFC, which is one less win than UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping. With 19 wins, Maia is tied with former UFC champion Georges St-Pierre and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.

Maia is coming off a decision loss to UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley back in July.
