UFC fighters are no longer allowed to get on top of the cage when fighting in Las Vegas.
The Nevada Athletic Commission has banned fighters from getting on top of the cage while celebrating a victory. Fighters were banned from getting on top of the cage following UFC lightweight contender Justin Gaethje’s post-fight celebration following his first UFC win.
In July, Gaethje defeated Michael Johnson in one of the most exciting fights of 2017. Following his win, Gaethje attempted to jump on top of the cage but fell. Eventually, Gaethje got on top of the fence and did a backflip.
“Because of me, sorry guys, you’re not allowed to get on the cage anymore, on top of the Octagon anymore, when you win in Vegas,” Gaethje told FOX Sports. “So, sorry about that. They let us get punched, and kicked, and kneed in the face and then we can’t jump off the damn cage.”
