After four weeks with no UFC events, the UFC returned on Saturday with a Fight Night event in the Rotterdam.
One of the top female bantamweight fighters on the UFC roster fought on the main card when Marion Reneau fought UFC newcomer Talita Bernardo.
Reneau threw a leg kick early which allowed Bernardo to get a takedown. Reneau was active off of her back, but Bernardo managed to secure the top position. Later on, Reneau swept Bernardo and got on top. Bernardo then went for a knee lock and used that to get on top. Reneau then went for a triangle choke. Bernardo escaped and go into north-south position. Bernardo then took her opponent’s back. Reneau rolled over and got the fight into her guard to finish the round.
Both women traded punches and kicks to start the middle round. Reneau appeared to land the cleaner and more damaging punches. Bernardo went for a takedown, but Reneau stuffed it. Later on, Bernardo successfully landed a takedown. Reneau fought her way back to her feet. Reneau then started picking Bernardo apart with punches. In the final seconds, Reneau continued to land punches with Bernardo against the cage.
Reneau landed multiple punches to start the final round. Bernardo went for a takedown, but Reneau stayed on her feet. Bernardo engaged a clinch and managed to get the fight to the mat. Reneau went for a triangle choke, but Bernardo escaped. Reneau later managed to take Bernardo’s back and locked in a rear-naked choke. Bernardo escaped but then ate a bunch of punches on the ground. Eventually, the referee stepped in and stopped the fight in the final seconds.
