UFC superstar Conor McGregor’s new documentary Notorious premiers on Wednesday in Dublin, Ireland. The film will receive a world wide theatrical release and will tell the story of McGregor’s explosive mixed martial arts career. That being said, it would appear that MMA Fighting’s award winning MMA journalist Ariel Helwani will not be in attendance.
Speaking on today’s edition of The MMA Hour, Helwani revealed that he was offered an invitation to the premier by Universal pictures. However, the reporter was forced to decline.
Here is what Helwani had to say on the matter:
“I was actually supposed to go to Dublin on Wednesday to be a part of the premier there, the one that Conor will be at. There is going to be a 20 minute Q&A with him afterwards and that was going to air. If you went to see the documentary in New York, you would see the Q&A afterwards.
“Universal pictures had asked me to do it and I was honored and I was going to go in and out.”
However, things have since changed. Ariel Helwani explained:
“Now, unfortunately, I’m out. The reason I’m out is because they asked me to write all of my questions in advance and then they said they were going to have to approve all of the questions. I don’t write questions for my own show, let alone for somebody else to approve them.”
