Georges St-Pierre is gearing up for his big octagon return. The former champion retired from mixed martial arts nearly four years ago, but has decided to take another run with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Of course, “Rush” is returning in a new weigh class and is taking on a type of opponent he has never faced before.
While St-Pierre is one of the historically most dominant UFC welterweight champions, the fighter will be making his big return in the middleweight division. For his highly anticipated match up, “Rush” will be taking on UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping.
The champion hasn’t pulled any punches when discussing GSP, and has been burying him nonstop for months now.
‘You see, he’s been away for a long time,’ Michael Bisping told Sportsmail. ‘He’s gonna be frozen under those spotlights. I’m not going to give him the time that he needs to adjust.I’m going to put it on him from the opening bell, look to take him out in the first round but even if he gets through that I’m looking to stop him for sure.’
‘I love this. there’s a reason why George retired and walked away from the sport. He doesn’t like it, he doesn’t enjoy it. . . I actually enjoy having a good fight. You know what not when I’m done with him,’ he replied. ‘If all goes to plan then George gets his ass kicked and I think that will be the end of Georges St-Pierre.’ Bisping concluded.
In promotion for their UFC 217 pay-per-view event, St-Pierre and “The Count” met face to face in Toronto, Canada today for a press-conference. During their recent post-fight press conference, Bisping was able to rile up his opponent with some sharp tongued trash-talking. This time, the two fighters had a heated exchange behind the scenes following the Canadian conference.
