Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has found himself at the criticism of UFC President Dana White after his latest drug test failure.
Coming back from a suspension due to a previous drug test failure, Jon “Bones” Jones finally made his octagon return at this year’s UFC 214. Taking on heated rival and reigning champion Daniel Cormier in the night’s pay-per-view main event, Jones earned a title winning knockout victory. However, the victory would be short lived.
USADA later revealed that “Bones” Jones had failed his UFC 214 drug test. As a result, the main event match up was overturned as a no contest and Cormier was given back the light heavyweight title. Now Jones has been facing the ire of many fight fans over the incident. Having been involved in a DUI case, a hit-and-run incident and having failed a drug test last year, the fighter has been receiving criticism for much of his career.
Appearing on the The TSN MMA Show, Dana White explained that he believed Jon Jones to be the largest waste of talent in sports.
“Ever…. ever, in all of sports.” He said.
“The guys is so talented and gifted, who knows what he would be doing now if he hadn’t ever got in trouble.
“He could possibly be the heavyweight champion and have the defense record that couldn’t be broken.”
White added, “The list goes on and one of what could’ve been with Jon Jones.”
Speaking on the possibility of Jon Jones getting a short suspension for the latest incident, White said “Whatever happens, happens.”
“Believe me, I’m not mentally or emotionally invested in that anymore.”
