Daniel Cormier Issues Public Apology For Recent Words Towards “Rumble” Johnson: “I was wrong”

Former UFC light heavyweight top contender and title challenger Anthony Johnson unexpectedly announced his retirement from the sport of MMA after his tough loss to reigning champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 210. That being said, “Rumble” Johnson recently made headlines after it was revealed that the fighter is in talks with the UFC for his return to the octagon within the heavyweight division.

Following the news, Daniel Cormier had some heated criticism concerning “Rumble.” Cormier referred to Johnson as “soft,” for his relationship with Jon Jones and his decision to return to the sport so quickly after retiring.

Now Daniel Cormier has come forward with an apology for his recent criticisms. Appearing on the MMA Junkie podcast, Cormier out it simply.

“The reality is, I was wrong.”  The fighter continued, “I’ll walk it back a little bit. I was wrong. I should not have said anything about him being soft.”

Cormier then explained that his views on competition do not have to be agreed upon by other fighters. Cormier explained that other fighters see competition differently. Now Cormier is ready to pull back his criticisms of the former light heavyweight title challenger and let “Rumble” act as he will.
