Former top UFC middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi was not able to reach an agreement with the mixed martial arts promotion earlier this year when his contract reached its end. Unhappy with the terms for his return to the promotion, Mousasi elected for free-agency. Since then, the fighter has been picked up by competing promotion Bellator MMA.
Just last night, Mousasi made his big Bellator debut in the headlining event for Bellator 185. Taking on mixed martial arts veteran Alexander Shlemenko, Mousasi had a lot on his plate.
Mousasi suffered an onslaught of brutal strikes throughout the main event, leaving the fighter looking battered and beaten by the end of the match. Going the distance, the judges were left with a close decision. However, Mousasi came out on top with a unanimous decision victory.
