California is suffering a massive wildfire that has claimed over 1,500 homes and has forced over 20,000 people to evacuate to safety. Among those affected by the fires, Olympic medalist and UFC competitor Henry Cejudo recently suffered burns on his foot.
Staying at a hotel in Northern California while on an Olympic retreat, Cejudo did not evacuate from his room once fire alarms began to sound. As a result, the fighter was quickly stuck in a difficult situation. With the fires closing in, Cejudo leaped from a second story balcony to safety. During the incident, the fighter was marked with a series of burns.
Taking to Instagram, Cejudo has now revealed a picture of his injury. The fighter is still set to take on Sergio Pettis later this year.
Here is what Cejudo had to say over Instagram:
“Hey everybody just want to say thank you for the love and support. Prayers to all the families that lost somebody in the fire. I’m doing fine and my foot isn’t broken but I did burn my foot on the way down after jumping out the window. It’s just a long story but I’ll keep you guys posted when I do a interview. As of now I’m on my way to Natal, Brazil to take care of business at #ufc218.”
Henry Cejudo and Sergio Pettis will face off at UFC 218 on Dec. 2 inside the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
