Rumors have been swirling around that former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar may be making a return to the MMA promotion. Directly after taking out Daniel Cormier at UFC 214, Jon Jones brought that rumor to it pinnacle by directly calling out the WWE superstar.
However, Jon “Bones” Jones has since failed another drug test. As a result, Jones’ title earning victory over Daniel Cormier has been overturned and Daniel Cormier is once again the reigning UFC light heavyweight champion. Now it would appear that any hopes of Brock Lesnar’s immanent return to the octagon have gone out the window.
Speaking on The Fighter and The Kid podcast, former WWE star Bill Goldberg revealed that Brock Lesnar was becoming motivated for returning to the UFC. However, Jon Jones’ latest failed drug test has hindered Lesnar’s plans.
Here is what Bill Goldberg had to say about the chances of Lesnar making a UFC return:
“If [Brock Lesnar] wants to, I think he does, I think he does. I think it may be in his plans.”
Golberg then revealed that it was more likely that Brock Lesnar would return a month ago, explaining that Jon Jones’ latest test has made a difference. Speaking on Jon Jones’ failed drug test, Goldberg said:
“Yeah, a huge wrench into it, because if it ain’t Jon, there’s nobody big enough. Nobody, there’s nobody there for him to fight. Conor [McGregor], that’s it. And I only say Conor because Conor has opened his mouth about all the WWE guys.”
