Johnson Reacts To Breaking Silva’s Record With First Ever Mid-Air Slam-To-Armbar Submission

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva put on a dominant run within the UFC during his prime. Earning the coveted UFC record for most consecutive title defenses, Anderson Silva made 10 straight wins as the champion.

Demetrious Johnson faced off against division contender Ray Borg in the co-main event of tonight’s UFC 216. A crushing weight hung around Johnson’s shoulders, as the champion was fighting for his record breaking 11th consecutive title defense.

Still, Demetrious Johnson put on a dominant performance in the fight. Ray Borg immediately attempted to apply pressure to his opponent, but was overcome by the flyweight champion. After grueling rounds of being out-grappled by “Mighty Mouse,” Demetrious Johnson landed a stunning submission for the win.

Suplexing Borg into the air, Johnson managed to transition into an armbar before Borg ever hit the mat. Stuck in a real-life tap or snap situation, Ray Borg ultimately tapped out.
