Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Jon Jones finally made his octagon return at UFC 214, after suffering a year long suspension due to a failed drug test. Jones went on to knock out heated rival and reigning champion Daniel Cormier in the night’s pay-per-view main event. However, the victory would be short lived. Jon Jones failed his UFC 214 drug test.
As a result, the fight was overturned to a no contest and Daniel Cormier was granted back the light heavyweight belt. As far as Jon Jones is concerned, the fighter is still deep in testing with the UFC’s anti-doping watch dogs USADA.
A USADA official previously revealed that there is a chance that Jon Jones could avoid a lengthy suspension, if “Bones” can prove that the banned substance was consumed accidentally.
Looking forward on the investigation concerning Jones’ drug test failure, ESPN’s Brett Okamoto recently revealed that the fighter is still being tested and that Jones has had clean results so far.
Here is Okamoto’s original report:
“USADA still testing Jon Jones, as case pends. Records show he was tested 4th quarter of 2017. I’m told it was 10/11, results were clean.”
