While Georges St-Pierre has become one of the UFC’s historically most dominant welterweights, the fighter is often criticized for his octagon performances. After all, “Rush” has not earned a finish over an opponent since January of 2009. Retiring as the welterweight champion nearly four years ago, St-Pierre has decided to make another run within the UFC. This time, the fighter is moving up to the middleweight division for a title fight with reigning champion Michael Bisping.
The two MMA veterans are set to headline the pay-per-view UFC 217 event in New York. In promotion for the fight, the UFC has been touring the two fighters in a series of pre-fight conferences.
During a recent conference, as provided by Bloody Elbow, Bisping mentioned that he was able to get his opponent riled up enough to take a swing at him at their previous conference. St-Pierre sees things differently.
“If I would’ve tried to punch you, you would’ve been knocked out on the floor. For me I found it amusing. It’s not even annoying, it’s amusing and I’m having a good time right now.”
Having earned his belt with a devastating knockout victory over Luke Rockhold last year, Bisping has made sure to remind his opponent of his record.
“Who was the last person you’ve knocked out?”
St-Pierre was quick to retort:
“You’ll be the next. It’s not going to go 5 rounds. He’s the next one.”
Bisping then mentioned that he has allegedly knocked out three different people during his training in the past week.
“Who was it? I’ll tell you this, I’ve knocked out 3 people this week in training, and that’s a true story. You haven’t knocked anyone out in f—ng god knows how long, pal. So cut the bullshit. No need to lie to your people.”
Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre will finally get to throw down at UFC 217 on Nov. 4 inside Madison Square Garden in New York. The event will be live on pay-per-view.
