Pennington Breaks Her Silence After Being Pulled From Nunes Title Fight

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight Raquel Pennington nearly earned a shot at the title this year. The reigning champion Amanda Nunes even agreed to face off against the fighter. However, things simply did not go Pennington’s way.

Shortly after it was reported that Pennington had earned a fight against Nunes at December’s UFC 219, it was later revealed that Pennington suffered a broken leg during a car accident. As a result, the fight has since been taken off the table.

Pennington has not competed inside the octagon this year, but is currently riding a 4 fight winning streak. Most recently, the fighter earned a unanimous decision victory over former champion Miesha Tate last year at UFC 205.

Now the fighter has taken to Twitter to give her fans an update on how she is doing after suffering the unfortunate accident.

“Just wanna say thank you to everyone for all the kind words, prayers and get well wishes! Been a rough year but I’ll be back stronger.”
