Tony Ferguson has been on a warpath for the UFC lightweight title. Just last weekend, “El Cucuy” took on Kevin Lee for the interim title at UFC 216. In the night’s pay-per-view main event, Ferguson locked in a title earning submission victory over his opponent. Directly after his victorious performance, the newly crowned interim champion made sure to call out UFC superstar Conor McGregor.
“Where you at McNuggets, ya f**king piece of s**t,” Ferguson said after defeating Kevin Lee at UFC 216. “I’m gonna kick your ass. You better come and f**king defend that belt. Defend or vacate, motherf**ker.”
Speaking to MMA Junkie prior to UFC 216, Ferguson explained that he has no interest in a “red panty night.”
Back in 2015, “Notorious” made the turn of phrase famous when made a comment on his own super stardom.
“When you sign to fight me, it’s a celebration. You ring back home. You ring your wife. ‘Baby, we’ve done it. We’re rich, baby. Conor McGregor made us rich. Break out the red panties.’”
That being said, Ferguson is not interested in a “red panty night.” Here is what “El cucuy” told MMA Junkie before winning the interim title at UFC 216:
“I like blue panties. He’s not gonna defend or vacate, he’s gonna have to fight me. There’s no insider information. He’s never spoken my name. I’m one of the most ruthless vatos out there. This guy, he doesn’t want a part of me. I’m not aiming at him. I don’t give two f–ks.”
Of course, since Ferguson’s statement, McGregor has hinted that “El Cucuy” is next on his list.
