Popular BJJ standout Mackenze Dern will once again make her way to the Mixed Martial Arts cage, tomorrow night as part of LFA 24.
Dern represents one of the sport’s most highly-touted female prospects, offering a good mix of real martial arts pedigree and marketable looks and personality.
“I’m still trying to find myself in MMA, but my style in jiu-jitsu is very aggressive already, so that part was pretty easy. Even though in my first fight I didn’t submit the girl, I attacked with a kneebar, toehold, choke, armbar.” Dern said in an earlier interview with MMAjunkie. “I attacked with almost everything you can think of. Even Benson Henderson said in an interview that he thinks my jiu-jitsu transitions very well to MMA.”
Dern makes her first move to the flyweight division Friday night on AXS TV. She will be facing Mandy Polk.
Dern made weight today coming in at 124.8 pounds, while Polk hit the scales at 123.8.
LFA 24 takes place on Friday, Oct. 13 at the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix.
