It would appear that the UFC has been having some troubles finding an opponent for one of their welterweight contenders.
UFC welterweight Kamaru Usman has put on a dominant performance in his mixed martial arts career. Undefeated in the UFC, Usman has not faced a defeat in his career since 2013. Now Usman is riding a stunning 10 fight winning streak and is looking to climb his way up the division contender list.
The mixed martial arts promotion has been attempting to lock Usman in for their Dec. 30 fight card in Las Vegas, but has had some troubles finding an opponent. MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani recently took to Twitter to report that the UFC has attempted to get any top 15 contender from the division to accept the fight. However, no top 15 contender has yet to accept the offer. As a result, unranked fighter Emil Meek has been targeted for the event.
Here is Helwani’s report from Twitter:
“Word is UFC tried to book Usman vs. every available top 15er but couldn’t find a taker. So Meek gets the shot.”
