Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva recently pulled himself out of a rough four fight losing streak with a decision victory over Derek Brunson, who just knocked out Lyoto Machida at UFC Fight Night 119. Now Silva is set to take on Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Fight Night 122 and it would appear that “The Spider” is taking a rather unexpected approach to training for the fight.
Gastelum and Silva were initially suppose to face off at UFC 212, however Gastelum was pulled from the event due to a failed drug test. Now the two will meet in Shanghai, China inside the Mercedes Benz Arena on Nov. 25.
Gastelum will be looking to get back inside the winning column himself, as the fighter just faced a submission loss to former champion Chris Weidman at UFC on FOX 25. That in mind, a new video of Anderson Silva sparring in preparation for his fight with Gastelum has now surfaced and the footage shows “The Spider” training with his hands down and his chin up. With Gastelum potentially looking to stand up with Anderson Silva, the footage has some fight fans concerned.
