It would appear as if the UFC has a super-fight hinging on next week’s UFC 217 co-main event.
According to the UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt, his next fight, should he get passed T.J. Dillashaw at Madison Square Garden, would be a champion vs. champion fight against the UFC’s P4P king, Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson.
Taking to today’s UFC 217 pre-fight media call, Garbrandt stated, “I always like a fight ahead of me. Mighty Mouse is next at 125 pounds. I can make 125 on Nov. 4 if I wanted to.”
This year’s return trip to Madison Square Garden is proof the UFC can still deliver a stacked mega-card, with all the bells and whistles.
Set to headline next week’s MSG card, Georges “Rush” St-Pierre returns to the Octagon for the first time in over four years. He will face off against the UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping in the UFC 217 main event, on pay-per-view.
Also on the night’s fight card is a long-awaited title fight between Cody Garbrandt and T.J. Dillasaw. And a female strawweight title fight between Joanna Jedrzerjczyk And “Thug” Rose Namajunas.
