Sao Paulo, Brazil is hosting tonight’s UFC Fight Night 119. This time, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has collected a series of exciting fights for fans to enjoy. Later tonight in the main event, Lyoto Machida will be making his return to the octagon in a battle against Derek Brunson.
In tonight’s featured UFC Fight Pass prelim, flyweights Deiveson Figueiredo and Jarred Brooks faced off for division dominance. With each fighter wielding undefeated records as professional mixed marital artists, a momentous loss was on the line for one of the competitors.
Figueiredo and Brooks exploded into the first round, with Brooks eventually securing double hooks on his opponent. Brooks slammed him into the mat, before being pulled into Figueiredo full guard.
Brooks managed to get some damage off from the position, before his opponent managed to get to his feet. After exchanging a few blows, Brooks managed to get Figueiredo back on the mat with a swift takedown.
Figueiredo entered the second round with a vengeance, working hard to apply pressure to his opponent. Figueiredo landed a powerful hook, before being taken down once again by Brooks.
After a failed Guillotine submission attempt, Figueiredo managed to get to his feet. Brooks continued to wrestle his opponent, making his way back to the ground in a dominant position before receiving any significant strikes from Figueiredo.
After Brooks received a warning from the referee for grabbing shorts, the two fighters were once again brought to their feet.
Brooks came in to the final round seemingly exhausted from his dominant performance in the previous two rounds. Exhausted or not, the fighter managed to wrestle his way to a dominant position on the ground once again. Getting back to his feet, Figueiredo appeared to be the more fresh of the two fighters.
Figueiredo began to trade with his opponent, sinking in a few powerful strikes. Figueiredo began to head hunt, but was unable to finish Brooks before the final bell had rung.
