After a career rough patch, former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis is finally back at the weight class he achieved the most success at and is looking to keep the momentum going. Pettis returned to the lightweight (155lbs) division after trying his luck at featherweight (145lbs) for a few fights with mixed success.
His loss at UFC 206 to featherweight champion Max Holloway was enough for him though as he announced his intentions to move back up shortly after. In his first fight back at lightweight Pettis defeated tough, UFC veteran Jim Miller in what was an incredible performance from both fighters.
Now that “Showtime” has a bit of momentum on his side, the former champion is trying to keep it going strong with a win over Dustin Poirier at UFC Fight Night 120 from Norfolk.
“Yeah, most definitely, I mean, Dustin comes to bring it.” Anthony Pettis said of his UFC Fight Night 120 opponent Dustin Poirier. “He’s a southpaw. He comes with the big punches– not too dangerous with the kicks when he does throw them, so I’m looking to expose his mistakes that he makes out there. In the last fight, I played it safe; this fight, I’m going in for the kill.”
If his open workout is any indication, Pettis definitely looks ready to go.
