UFC superstar Conor McGregor may not have taken over the world of boxing, but the fighter certainly took over Bellator 187 today.
Bellator 187 went down today, Nov. 10, in Dublin, Ireland. McGregor’s teammate Charlie Ward competed on the day’s main card in a match up against John Redmond. “Notorious” was cage side cheering on his teammate, as the UFC lightweight champion was not a cornerman for Ward today. After Ward earned a first round TKO victory over his opponent, chaos erupted.
Conor McGregor stormed the cage, slapped a commissioner, had an altercation with referee Marc Goddard and sent the entire Dublin crowd on their feet in surprise. Now Bellator MMA has come forward with a statement concerning the recent incident. Speaking to MMA Junkie, the promotion stated:
“We are aware of the in-cage altercation involving Conor McGregor and a Bellator staff member. Viacom and Bellator hold the safety and well-being of our staff in the highest regard and we’re currently reviewing the situation.”
