Bellator Releases Contestants Pegged For New STACKED Heavyweight Tournament

Bellator MMA will be looking to crown a new heavyweight champion this year, as the mixed martial arts promotion gears up for the Bellator MMA World Grand Prix 2018.

It has been revealed that the tournament will feature eight huge names from the mixed martial arts world, many of which are former UFC champions. The Grand Prix will feature Fedor Emelianenko, Frank Mir, Matt Mitrione, Roy Nelson, Ryan Bader, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Muhammad Lawal and Chael Sonnen.

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Bellator President Scott Coker stated:

“This is going to be something that’s iconic for us. Tournaments, traditionally, are kind of the way martial arts contests happen. Now we get to put eight iconic brand names in our sport together over a year, and then whoever wins will be crowned the heavyweight champion.”

“I think there are certain fights that people want to see. Believe me, we’re going to have some amazing matchups in this tournament.

“These fights that we’re going to put together are something that the fans want to see. These are iconic names, big brands.”

The tournament is set to begin in 2018 and will feature one fight per night at seven yet undecided Bellator fight card.
