Booking Roundup: UFC Books A New One, And Replaces Another

UFC bantamweight Aljamain Sterling was initially set to go toe-to-toe with Rani Yahya at UFC Fight Night 123, but Yahya has since suffered an injury. Now it would appear that the mixed martial arts promotion has locked down another opponent for the fighter.

As reported by MMA Junkie, Sterling is now set to take on Marlon Moraes at the night’s event. UFC Fight Night 123 goes down Dec. 9 in Fresno, Calif.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has also pinned together a female bantamweight match up between Irene Aldana and Talita Bernardo for the UFC’s opening fight card for the year of 2018. The event will go down in St. Louis, Missouri on Jan. 14.

Here is Aldana’s original post (translated):

“It’s official! Return to the octagon on the first card of 2018. On January 14 at #stlouismissouri . Initially it was programmed to face Bethe Correia but due to an injury our commitment was canceled. Now I will be competing against Talita Bernardo. I am very happy and motivated to go for my first victory in the UFC. I know that the previous results did not go as I would like. But as an athlete I want to share with you that although sometimes things do not go well … it is not a reason to give up and that with hard work and perseverance there is much to achieve. Thanks to the people who support me in good times and bad.”
