Cub Swanson Reacts To Being Passed Up For Title Shot In Favor Of Jose Aldo

UFC 218 recently suffered a serious change to the night’s upcoming headliner. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion Max Holloway was initially going to make his first title defense against Frankie Edgar. However, Edgar has since been removed from the night’s main event due to an injury.

Since the news, fighters have been taking to social media and beyond to throw their hats in the ring for a possible replacement opponent to take on Holloway. In the end, former featherweight champion Jose Aldo landed the replacement spot in UFC 218’s headliner.

Holloway unified his interim title with a TKO finish over Aldo at UFC 212 earlier this year, making for an exciting main event rematch in Detroit, Michigan.

Cub Swanson was one of the many other fighters that was looking to land a spot inside the octagon against Holloway. Learning he did not lock in the position, Swanson took to Twitter to congratulate Jose Aldo.

“Congrats to Jose Aldo on getting another chance at the title.”

UFC 218 goes down Dec. 2 inside the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan and will be available live on pay-per-view.
