Rose Namajunas shocked the Madison Square Garden Arena on Saturday night when she beat down Joanna Jedrzejczyk for a first round, title earning finish. The two mixed martial arts warriors competed for the UFC strawweight title on the main card of New York’s UFC 217. Prior to the fight, Jedrzejczyk had earned an astounding undefeated streak with 14 victories in her career. The fighter was quickly becoming one of the UFC’s most dominant competitors. However, everything changed at UFC 217.
“Thug” Rose Namajunas earned a first round finish over Jedrzejczyk, earning the fighter the UFC strawweight title. Following the fight, Jedrzejczyk revealed that she is interested in a rematch with the only fighter to ever best her inside the octagon and it would now appear that UFC President Dana White it behind the idea.
Speaking to UFC reporter Megan Olivi, Dana White said the following when asked if Jedrzejczyk has earned a rematch against Namajunas.
“Yeah. I mean obviously if anybody deserves a rematch, it’s Joanna. I mean look at what she’s accomplished and what she’s done. But, we’ll see what happens.”
