It wasn’t long ago that the UFC tried to put together a flyweight title fight between Demetrious Johnson and T.J. Dillashaw.
The two were both without an opponent, and the UFC and T.J. Dillashaw were both on board.
Dillashaw was promised the bout, and got three weeks into the weight cut, when the UFC’s P4P king in Demetrious Johnson turned down the UFC’s final offer, and the fight fizzled out.
Now, under today’s UFC landscape, Dillashaw has a much better claim at a super-fight, having just won the UFC bantamweight title at UFC 217, and UFC President Dana White wants it done.
Talking to the post-fight media in New York, the UFC president stated that he wants the fight between these two champions. “I like that fight. I do like that fight,” said the UFC boss. “You know I wanted to do that fight before, now it’s even better.”
