Dublin, Ireland fight fans were in for a chaotic set of fights today at Bellator 187. During the day of fights, SBG Ireland’s Charlie Ward earned a first round TKO victory over John Redmond. Of course, it’s what came after the TKO that has many fans talking.
SBG Ireland teammate and UFC megastar Conor McGregor was present for Ward’s performance. While McGregor was not a cornerman for the fighter, “Notorious” was still present cage side.
After Ward’s big win McGregor vaulted over the cage, slapped a commissioner in the face, had a confrontation with referee Marc Godddard and then tackled Charlie Ward and congratulated the fighter on his big win.
McGregor had a run-in with Goddard during teammate Artem Lobov’s most recent octagon performance. McGregor approached the cage and allegedly shouted advice to Lobov on multiple occasions, even though “Notorious” was not a cornerman for the fighter.
At today’s Bellator 187, the two individuals had a short confrontation. Cage side Bellator commentator Jimmy Smith, an individual that had one of the best seats for the incident in the arena, recently took to Twitter to explain the situation.
“Commissioner told me after the fight that ref was trying to clear the cage to verify KO was before the bell, hence putting hands on Connor and the melee began.”
