It would appear that Joanna Jedrzejczyk has not lost an ounce of confidence since being taken out by Rose Namajunas at UFC 217. Now, the former UFC strawweight champion claims she is still the top dog in the division.
Jedrzejczyk was undefeated prior to UFC 217, a UFC champion with 14 victories under her name. That being said, things changed once the fighter met Rose Namajunas in New York.
Inside the illustrious Madison Square Garden Arena, Jedrzejczyk and Namajunas went toe-to-toe for the title. Namajunas out on a dominant performance over her opponent, earning a first round TKO win over Jedrzejczyk.
Speaking in a fan Q&A during UFC Shanghai fight week, Jedrzejczyk gave her thoughts on the situation.
“I’m the real champion,” Jedrzejczyk said while doing media for UFC Fight Night 122. “I’m the real strawweight with the belt. I built this division and I will run this division. I’m still running this division.”
“Don’t worry, guys,” Jedrzejczyk continued. “My first fight is going to be for a belt and I promise to you that I’m going to be a champion. She’s just taking care of my belt — cleaning the belt.”
