Rose Namajunas shocked Madison Square Garden at UFC 217 when she took down Joanna Jedrzejczyk in dominant fashion. That being said, UFC’s Jorge Masvidal was backstage for the event and has come forward to reveal that “Thug” Rose was quite nervous leading up to the match up.
UFC strawweight Joanna Jedrzejczyk was undefeated in her mixed martial arts career leading into UFC 217, with 14 victories over some of the division’s toughest opponents on her record. The fighter was quickly becoming one of the mixed martial arts promotion’s most dominant competitors. That being said, Namajunas took out Jedrzejczyk with a first round TKO victory for the strawweight title in New York.
Leading up to the fight, Namajunas appeared to be calm, collected and focused on the task before her, while Jedrzejczyk was the exact opposite. That being said, Jorge Masvidal recently revealed that the fighter wasn’t quite so calm before the fight.
As seen in the video below, Masvidal had the following to say when analyst Dan Hardy commented on Namajunas’ apparent calmness leading into UFC 217.
“You think Rose was calm? No way. I saw her crying backstage.”
