Georges St. Pierre finally made his big return to the octagon at UFC 217, after a nearly four year long lay off from the sport of mixed martial arts. For his big return, the former welterweight champion moved up in weight to challenge UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping for his belt.
St-Pierre choked out “The Count” inside the Madison Square Garden Arena in front of the New York crowd in the night’s highly anticipated pay-per-view headliner. Now the newly crowned UFC middleweight champion has become one of four UFC fighters to ever earn a title in multiple divisions.
Going forward, St-Pierre claims he is contractually obligated to unify his title in a battle against interim champion Robert Whittaker. Briefly speaking on the matter, UFC analyst and former fighter Kenny Florian explained that he believes St-Pierre can beat the interim champion, as well as Conor McGregor.
