Well, former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has now found himself on a losing streak.
“The Count” suffered the end of his title reign back at UFC 217, when the fighter faced a rough submission loss to Georges St-Pierre in the third round. Trying to get back inside the winning column, Bisping swiftly picked up a short notice offer for UFC Shanghai. However, things did not go Bisping’s way.
UFC Fight Night 122 went down Saturday, Nov. 25, in Shanghai, China. In the night’s main event, Michael Bisping filled in for Anderson Silva after the fighter was pulled from the event due to a failed drug test. For his opponent, Bisping faced off against Kelvin Gastelum.
Within the first round, Gastelum knocked “The Count” out with a vicious left hand, putting Bisping on a two fight losing streak. Speaking to Jon Anik after the loss, Michael Bisping said:
“Kelvin’s a great guy, but unfortunately, it’s going to take a bigger pile of (expletive) than him to get rid of me.” said Bisping following the fight.
“I just want to say congratulations to Kelvin Gastelum. Job well done tonight – thank you all for being here. I was enjoying myself. He caught me with a good shot. God bless Kelvin. He’s young. I’ve been doing this for a long time, man. I’m getting old. God bless you all for being here. Thank you.”
Now Bisping is targeting a retirement fight in his home country of England for March of 2018.
