Today’s Ultimate Fighter 26 finale weigh in was an event in and of itself. Friday’s free on T.V. fight card lost it’s main event, had another fighter miss weight and saw two short-notice females step up for Friday’s night of fights.
Scheduled for the UFC’s first ever UFC flyweight female title fight, tournament finalist Sijara Eubanks was pulled from the card today for medical reasons.
As such, UFC fan-favorite Roxanne Modafferi has stepped up and will fight for the UFC world title on just 24-hours notice.
The Ultimate Fighter season 26 was put together to introduce the UFC’s first ever female flyweight champion. Tournament finalists Sijara Eubanks and Nicco Montano were originally scheduled to fight for the right to be crowned champion.
UFC female Karine Gevorgyan also missed the mark, and as a result has been fined a percentage of her fight purse.
Popular UFC female Lauren Murphy was originally scheduled to fight Friday night, but her opponent was unable to obtain the necssary visa to enter the country. Murphy was pulled from the bout, but with all of today’s hiccups, she now takes Roxanne’s original slot against Barb Honchak.
It was a wild day!
Today’s events took place from Las Vegas.
