Rory MacDonald Wants His Massive Bellator Fight Purse Paid In Bitcoin | MMA News

MMA NEWS

Former UFC welterweight contender Rory MacDonald made MMA News headlines following his move to competing mixed martial arts promotion Bellator MMA earlier this year. Facing off against Paul Daley, “Red King” put on a dominant performance over his opponent in his Bellator debut. Now, MacDonald is set to fight for the Bellator welterweight title as he takes on reigning champion Douglas Lima. That in mind, it would appear that the fighter is now considering something different for payment in his upcoming Bellator match ups.

Speaking on The MMA Hour, MacDonald revealed that he is considering being paid in the worldwide cryptocurrency Bitcoin. In addition, Rory said this might be a great option as compensation for his Bellator performances moving forward. The last disclosed total MacDonald earned in a fight totaled $500, 000. At its current value, the total would exchange to 52.08 Bitcoins.

However the “Red King” gets paid, the fighter is set to go toe-to-toe with Douglas Lima at Bellator 192. The event goes down Jan. 20, 2018 in Inglewood, California. Also on the card is the first round of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix featuring Chael Sonnen and Quinton Jackson (aka Rampage Jackson).
