T.J. Dillashaw was once a member of the highly acclaimed training camp Team Alpha Male, a gym founded by UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber. The fighter trained alongside the likes of Cody Garbrandt during his stay with the team. However Dillashaw departed from the camp shortly after earning the UFC bantamweight title, leaving the gym for Elevation Fight Team.
Since the split, Cody Garbrandt and T.J. Dillashaw have been in a heated rivalry. With Garbrandt having earned the bantamweight title with a decision victory over Dominick Cruz at UFC 207, “No Love” had his first title defense at Saturday night’s UFC 217. For the fight, the champion faced off against none other than T.J. Dillashaw.
Garbrandt put on an impressive display in the first round of the fight, dropping Dillashaw near the end of the round with a strong right hand. Dillashaw was ultimately saved by the bell, coming back to earn a TKO victory over “No Love” in the second round.
Now Urijah Faber has taken to Instagram to share his response to Garbrandt’s recent title ending defeat. Here is what the UFC Hall of Famer had to say:
“Water off a ducks back wins and losses evoke emotion. Life is about relationships and always moving forward. Proud of of the warriors in the cage tonight.”
