Fight fans flocked to the illustrious Madison Square Garden Arena in New York on Saturday for the highly anticipate fight card of UFC 217. The night featured a series of exciting fights, including three different title fight match ups.
The first title fight of the night was for the UFC strawweight strap, as champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk faced off against tough contender Rose Namajunas.
Jedrzejczyk had never suffered a defeat in her professional mixed martial arts career leading up to the New York event, having cultivated a 14 fight winning streak throughout her profession. Still, Namajunas shocked the New York crowd with a stunning victory over the previously dominant competitor.
Within the first round “Thug” Rose Namajunas achieved a brutal knockout finish over her opponent, granting the fighter the UFC strawweight title. In her post-fight interview, the newly crowned champion explained that she simply wants people to be nicer to each other. Now the fighter has taken to Instagram to share another message.
