Fast rising heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou believes he’s destined for UFC gold, and in just a little over two-weeks we’ll get to see if he’s ready for the big time.
In Ngannou’s way is a resurgent Alistair Overeem, who has proven time and time again to be one of the most dangerous heavyweight fighters in the world.
A win for Ngannou at UFC 218 puts him into a new elite-level bracket and he knows it.
In a new talk with MMAJunkie.com, Ngannou was asked if he thought a win over Overeem earns him a title shot against champion Stipe Miocic.
Here’s how he laid it down:
“No, enough ‘could be,. It will be [enough to earn a shot at Stipe Miocic].”
“And then to know that something bigger is coming. Opportunities are becoming bigger and bigger. I’m very excited, because that fight will probably change the level of things.
“I’ve been preparing for this for a long time. I’ve been within this moment almost my whole life. And now I feel like I’m next to the goal. I’m next to it. And I’m really, really excited for it. I feel ready for everything.”
