Rose Namajunas shocked Madison Square Garden on Saturday night when she earned a dominant first round knockout victory over UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 217. Jedrzejczyk was previously undefeated, with a 14 fight winning streak under her belt. That being said, “Thug” Rose made short work of her opponent for the strawweight title in the UFC’s second ever appearance at the illustrious Madison Square Garden.
Rose Namajunas has, of course, been a top level athlete for some time. Back in 2008, the fighter was granted an award for being the featured student athlete of her hometown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The fighter was already a blackbelt, as well as a cross country runner, when she received the award.
