Now Both Bellator 192 Main Event Fighters Want to Be Paid in Bitcoin

Mixed martial arts promotion Bellator MMA is getting ready to put on a show for their fight fans. This time around, the MMA promotion is gearing up for Bellator 192. Now it would appear that the night’s headliners are interested in changing up their fight purses for Bitcoins.

Bellator 192 goes down Jan. 20, 2018 in Inglewood, Calif. In the main event, former UFC title challenger Rory MacDonald will face off against Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima for his belt.

MacDonald made the move to Bellator MMA earlier this year. In a successful debut with the promotion, MacDonald earned a submission victory over Paul Daley at Bellator 179. Now MacDonald is set to fight for the Bellator welterweight title. That being said, it would appear that MacDonald would like to be paid in the worldwide cryptocurrency Bitcoin rather than U.S. currency for his upcoming main event title fight.

Speaking on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, MacDonald revealed that he considers Bitcoin to potentially be a great option for compensation in his upcoming fights under the Bellator banner.

The last disclosed total Rory MacDonald earned in a fight ran a grand sum of $500, 000. Therefore, “Red King’s” disclosed payout would total 52.08 Bitcoins at the current exchange.

Now it would appear that Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima is interested in the cryptocurrency as well.

Speaking to MMAimports, Lima revealed that he is interested in the currency. The Bellator champion is still researching the cryptocurrency, but is interested in the subject. Now only time will tell if the two Bellator 192 headliners will make way with Bitcoins in any of their upcoming match ups.

Douglas Lima is currently on a three fight winning streak. The welterweight champion most recently earned a unanimous decision victory over Lorenz Larkin at Bellator 180. In his previous outing, the champion took out Andrey Koreshkov with a knockout performance. Following his knockout win over Koreshkov, he earned a unanimous decision victory over Paul Daley. Now Lima is 29-6 in his mixed martial arts career.

Rory MacDonald, on the other hand, pulled himself out of a two fight losing streak with his recent victory over Paul Daley. The fighter dropped a unanimous decision to Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson at UFC Fight Night 89.  Prior to that MacDonald suffered a tough TKO loss to Robbie Lawler at UFC 189. MacDonald is now 19-4 in his MMA career.
