Ever since former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre graced the octagon with his big UFC return after nearly four years away from the sport, fight fans have been eyeing a super-fight between “Rush” and UFC superstar Conor McGregor. Rather, the French Canadian phenom moved up in weight to take on UFC middleweight champion Michal Bisping instead.
St-Pierre went on to choke out “The Count” for the middleweight title. But, things have not been going the fighter’s way ever since.
St-Pierre has since vacated his UFC title. Stricken with colitis, “Rush” is now taking another step back from his MMA career to focus on his health. In the meantime, St-Pierre’s coach Firas Zahabi has come forward with his thoughts on the possible next move for the former champion.
Speaking to Express Sport, Zahabi revealed that he believes St-Pierre should perhaps throw down with UFC megastar Conor McGregor.
“He’s got the touch of death in his hands,” Zahabi said. “So I think him and Georges would be a phenomenal fight. It would probably be the biggest fight in UFC history and MMA history and that record wouldn’t be broken for ten years. So why not do it?”
