Jan Blachowicz Outpoints Jared Cannonier In FS1 Prelims Headliner

Mixed martial arts warriors are stepping inside the octagon tonight, Dec. 16, for UFC on FOX 26. Taking place inside the Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Canada, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is hosting a bevy of big match ups on the night’s fight card. In the featured preliminary fight for the night, light heavyweights Jan Blachowicz and Jared Cannonier are facing off for the Winnipeg crowd. Check out the UFC results below.

The fight kicked off at a slower pace, as the two fighters began to test each other’s range and timing. In the end, Cannonier made the first move and rushed his opponent against the fence. However, Blachowicz was able to escape the position and return to the center of the octagon.

Halfway through the first round, Blachowicz began firing off powerful jabs at his opponent. However, Cannonier continued to push the pace of the fight.

With a minute left in the round, the two MMA warriors continued to trade blows at a methodical pace. Blachowicz stuck Cannonier with a strong head kick that was followed by a right hand. However, Cannonier did not appear stunned by the strike.

Cannonier came back in the second round with a vengeance, dishing out a punch combination that landed on his opponent. However, Blachowicz retaliated with some powerful leg kicks.

Blachowicz scored a clean takedown over Cannonier, but the fighter quickly sprang back to his feet and made his way back to the center of the octagon. Halfway through the round, the two fighters began once again trading probing shots and well-timed counters.

Blachowicz then managed to drop his opponent with a right hand, then taking side control over Cannonier. Cannonier made his way back to his feet, but the fight was quickly brought to a halt as Blachowicz suffered an accidental eye poke.

With the fight back on after a momentary pause, Blachowicz scored a double leg takedown over Cannonier. The round seemingly went in Blachowicz’s favor in the end.

The final round opened at a faster pace, as Cannonier began to increase his frequency of strikes. However, Blachowicz continued to retaliate with strong counters.

Cannonier appeared to get a second wind, as the fighter pushed the pace even further with a series of powerful right hands that landed on Blachowicz.

With just under half of the round left, Blachowicz managed to take his opponent to the canvas. However, Cannonier quickly made his way back to his feet and against the fence. In the end, Blachowicz dragged the fighter back to the mat and began raining down strikes from the full guard.
