MMA legend Vitor Belfort was set to make his final fight inside the octagon at UFC Fight Night 124. However, the match was simply not meant to be. Now Belfort has accepted a new fight offer from the UFC, as the UFC veteran has now challenged Michael Bisping to join him inside the octagon.
Belfort was originally set to co-headline UFC Fight Night 124 in a match up against Uriah Hall for his grand retirement fight. When Hall failed to appear at the official weigh-ins, the fight was pulled from the night’s card on a day’s notice.
Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping is also looking to make his final octagon performance, as the fighter wants to retire in London. Taking to Instagram, Belfort revealed that the UFC has offered him “The Count” and he has accepted.
“Bisping stop finding excuses. @ufc had offered us Belfort vs Bisping 2 and I said YES. I will fight you in your hometown. How about that? Let’s make an amazing show for all the fans around the the world and retire in great fashion…
“Thanks @ufc @danawhite for finding a way to help me with all the camp expenses and offering me this great fight. I promise you and all my fans; on March 17th in London you all will see the Phenom in the octagon. I’m leaving it all in there!! #teambelfort #legacy.”
Michael Bisping, however, has shown little interest in facing Belfort again. The former title holder said, “I detest Vitor. Do not want to be associated with him in the slightest.”
Belfort earned a TKO victory over “The Count” back in 2013, leading some fans hopeful for the veteran retirement fight rematch between the two.
