UFC Fight Night 124 suffered a major hit on the night’s fight card when Uriah Hall vs. Vitor Belfort was unexpected cancelled. Now Belfort has provided a reaction to the last minute cancellation of his retirement fight following Hall’s recent health issue.
UFC Fight Night 124 is set to take place Sunday night, Jan. 14, inside the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The night’s co-main event was initially set to see MMA legend Vitor Belfort make his final octagon performance in a fight against Uriah Hall.
But, Hall failed to appear at the official weigh-ins. As a result, the night’s co-main event was cancelled. It would later be reported that Hall fainted before making it to the weigh-ins and was then transported to a local hospital.
Now Vitor Belfort has come forward with a statement concerning his cancelled retirement fight. Check out what Belfort had to say over Instagram down below:
“I dedicated 2 months for this training camp. Stayed away from my family and who knows me knows how hard this is for me. I spent all necessary to have the best structure to achieve my goal.
“My team had an intense dedication even during the holidays. I did all my fight week obligations, cut the weight and made the fight weight. Unfortunately my opponent had a problem during his weight cut, I wish him a soon recovery @uriahhall.
“Now I just want to go back home and see my family. Thanks for all the support along this training camp.Love you all!!”
