Well, that didn’t take long.
After an entire day of rumors and speculation the UFC just confirmed that Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic will compete in a champion vs. champion super-fight for the heavyweight world title.
In addition to the fight, which will go down at UFC 226, on international fight week, the UFC also confirmed the two UFC champions will coach opposite each other on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter
Daniel Cormier is no stranger to the heavyweight division. In fact, that’s where he started his career, and he went unbeaten, even capturing the Strikeforce Grand Prix world title. His only reason for dropping down a division was because he was loyal to his teammate, and then champion Cain Velasquez.
Cormier is coming off a UFC 220 victory over Volkan Oezdemir.
Miocic, the UFC’s heavyweight world champion, is the current UFC heavyweight title defense record holder. He recently shocked the world by thoroughly dominating Francis Ngannou in the UFC 220 main event.
Other champion super fights in the works for international fight week are Demetrious Johnson vs. TJ Dillashaw, and Cris Cyborg vs. Amanda Nunes.
