It would appear that UFC superstar Conor McGregor may have been doing quite well in his sparring practice over the last year. As a sparring partner has come forward to reveal that he was lifted off of his feet with one nasty power punch from “Notorious.”
McGregor made his professional boxing debut against undefeated pugilist legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. While the UFC lightweight champion did not earn a victory over Mayweather, McGregor put up more of a fight than perhaps some speculative fight fans had expected.
Now Commonwealth Youth silver medalist in boxing Tiernan Bradley has decided to come forward with a story about sparring with the UFC megastar in preparation for McGregor’s big boxing debut.
“I don’t know if you’ve seen the photo that he uploaded onto his Instagram after our session. People are talking about his left hand and whether the power will be there with 10-ounce gloves. He lifted me off my feet with a right uppercut in 16 (ounce gloves)!” Bradley told MMA Fighting after sparring with McGregor.
“That shot came out of nowhere. It was so fast and powerful. I can tell you now that those kinds of shots would drop boxers, and that was his right hand. He will definitely keep his stopping power with 10-ounce gloves on.”
“Looking at Conor yesterday, I know he’ll give Floyd a hard fight,” Bradley said. “This will not be a walkover. I really think whoever puts more into their camp will win it. I know that Conor is putting in the work and that his confidence is through the roof. He’s going to be ready when fight night comes around.”
