It would appear that UFC President Dana White may have just offered Michael Bisping a shot at Vitor Belfort during a live television broadcast.
MMA legend Vitor Belfort was initially set to make his retirement fight performance at Sunday night’s UFC Fight Night 124. Uriah Hall, the fighter’s opponent for the match, failed to appear at the official weigh-ins. As a result, the fight was cancelled.
Rumors quickly began swirling that fellow MMA veteran Michael Bisping was being considered as an opponent for the MMA legend’s new retirement fight. “The Count” is already looking to make his retirement performance in London.
Bisping would go on to refute any interest in facing Belfort inside the octagon, as the fighter faced a rough knockout loss to Belfort earlier in his career.
With that in mind, Dana White appeared on the UFC on FOX broadcast after Sunday night’s UFC Fight Night 124 to offer a statement on the matter.
“This thing went down and we worked quickly. We got Vitor a fight. He could have fought tonight. He chose not too. We got him a fight in Boston. He chose not too. I don’t know who his opponents were, but they told me we got him a fight tonight and we got him a fight in Boston. He turned both down.
“What I’m hearing is that he wants to fight Michael Bisping in London. So when I get back to Las Vegas, to the office, I’ll obviously talk to Vitor. I’ll talk to Mike. I don’t know. We’ll see what happens.”
