UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson has been deep in negotiations for his next potential match up for some time now. T.J. Dillashaw, the UFC bantamweight champion, has been eyeing a super fight with the flyweight title holder and it would now seem that Johnson has made the call. “Mighty Mouse” wants to take on Dillashaw.
Demetrious Johnson made UFC history last year when he defeated Ray Borg in stunning fashion by scoring a spectacular flying armbar submission over the fighter. Johnson broke the coveted UFC record for most consecutive title defenses, as previously held by Anderson Silva, with his 11th victory at the event.
Now recovering from a recent shoulder surgery, “Mighty Mouse” is looking to further his position as the most decorated UFC champion by taking on the UFC bantamweight title holder. Speaking on a recent MetroPCS Q&A, Johnson said:
“I had rotator cuff (surgery), labrum and joint clean-out. After 11 title defenses and 12 championship fights, the old dog needs to get some rehab. I got it cleaned up. (With) six weeks recovery, we can get strong again, and hopefully T.J. Dillashaw can get this match done. Hopefully July, International Fight Week, on a big, big card.”
