Sacramento’s highly acclaimed mixed martial arts gym Team Alhpa Male recently hosted martial arts film star Jean-Claude Van Damme for a series of unique training classes. However, things did not go so smoothly for the film star. Now Team Alpha Male founder and UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber has decided to come forward to explain the situation.
Van Damme stepped into the cage with former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt and teammate Chris Holdsworth for some light sparring and a few quick lessons.
During their sparring session, Van Damme struck Garbrandt with an accidental kick to the teeth. Seemingly frustrated with the mistake, “No Love” left the cage and Van Damme began emotionally apologizing for the strike. Speaking to TMZ Sports, Urijah Faber has decided to shed some light on the situation.
“The guy that took it the hardest was Jean-Claude.” Faber explained. “He was pretty upset that he kicked a guy that he loves so much, because he is good buddies with Cody [Garbrandt].”
“He was so pissed at himself that he dropped down and got real emotional.” Faber later revealed. “We had to console him. Cody left the octagon.”
