Things have not been going well for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu phenom Gabi Garcia as of late. The heavyweight mixed martial artist was initially set to face off against Shinobu Kandori at the Rizin World Grand Prix 2017. However, the fight never came to fruition.
Garcia came to the fight’s weigh-ins a grand total of 26 pounds over weight for the match. Had the fight gone on as planned, Garcia would have had a total 75 pound weight advantage over her opponent. Rather, the fight was pulled from the event. Following the incident, Garcia offered a tear filled apology to the Saitama crowd. Falling to her knees, the fighter pleaded with the local fight fans for her recent weight management issue.
Still, in a recent interview, Garcia revealed that she believes she can take on UFC superstar Conor McGregor if given the chance. After all, Garcia does hold an undefeated record with four victories to her name.
