Paige VanZant made her debut in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s flyweight division on Sunday night, Jan. 14. However, things did not quite go the fighters way. VanZant has now come forward to confirm that her arm was broken in the tough loss.
VanZant faced off against Jessica-Rose Clark in the co-main event for UFC Fight Night 124 on Sunday inside the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. VanZant revealed to her corner after the first round that she broke her arm.
Rather than call off the fight, “12 Gauge” opted to keep competing. Still, VanZant would go on to suffer a unanimous decision loss to her opponent. Taking to Instagram, VanZant has now confirmed that her arm was broken in the fight.
“Well… I broke my arm in the first! I was able to finish the fight but as you can see, had a hard recovering and throwing my right. Thank you to the @ufc and to my opponent.
“Thank you to my coaches and most importantly my head coach’s @therealburkecamp and @fabianoscherner . I’ll be back better and stronger than ever! it’s all apart of the fight game. God had other plans for me. darn spinning back fist.”
